If you wish to do a sketch walk or make some drawings of the view from your window, you can do this by making your own small sketchbook. All you need is some scrap pieces of card and some A4 paper, full instructions here. This sketchbook should have 12 drawing sides and you could complete this in a single day, or you could create one quick sketch a day or week until your sketchbook is full. You could have a theme for the sketchbook, mine below was based on Autumn Colours, or you could use the sketchbook to record events, feelings as well as the things you see. I thought I'd post two more activities before the weekend one indoors and one outdoors (if possible).
The slow-stitch movement combines relaxation with creative movements. The main element of slow stitch is just that, carefully, repetitively putting stitches into fabric. This techniques is all about the process, not the end product so you don't need any design skills, just the ability to thread a needle and use one basic stitch. The process is slow and meditative and should always be done with a cup of tea or coffee, friends are optional but sometimes it is nice to stitch with others. You can find instructions for a slow stitch book cover here.A junk journal is a book made from found and recycled materials to record thoughts, ideas and inspirations. Junk journals can be used: as a diary/journal to record everyday thoughts; to track the highs and lows of your research; to note quotes; as a planner to record dates or to do lists; or as a memory book to keep mementos such as birthday cards, tickets and photographs from your travels. |
